What’s the best type of promotional Video for you?

Since 2005 we have produced  Autoslide’s Promo videos, and have found a multi-pronged approach works best.

Autoslide are a Sydney based company supplying systems that automate existing sliding doors in your home.

The latest lifestyle series of videos was to be filmed at the beginning of July 2021. We had the filming date overlooking Sydney Harbour booked in, the crew and actors were booked in. Then a week before the shoot date new COVID restrictions were introduced in Sydney and the shoot was cancelled.

We were finally able to re-schedule for November 2021 and February 2022.

The first aspect we had to consider was that the target market was the US. So part of the casting requirements were that actors had to audition with an American accent. Lara, who was in charge of casting vetted  all auditions to ensure we got the right mix.

The type of people we were aiming at were upwardly mobile younger people, who owned apartments. They are people who love the Smart Home revolution and Autoslide fits perfectly into this demographic.

Autoslide offers an easy way to add automatic sliding door technology to existing doors in your home. The doors can be controlled from anywhere and come with extra features to automate and make life easier.

We chose Sydney Harbour as the backdrop, which was absolutely stunning. Whilst it is not the US, we felt Sydney has an attraction for its lifestyle and would attract the demographic.

One of the challenges we faced was the weather. This meant dates had to be cancelled whenever the weather was not in our favour. However the day we finally got was stunning.

Shooting from indoor to a sunny outdoor presented major challenges as well as well as dealing with all the glass of the sliding doors creating reflections. Our cinematographer, Martyn worked in with John on lighting to really make the scene pop, and overcome these challenges

To bring the scene up a notch we brought in Laurie, who is a much sought after set dresser/designer.

Another extra half day shoot was required  to shoot a scene in a car, parked at a shopping centre. This time we also needed it to be overcast and threatening rain. Once again we had to postpone the shoot. The day we finally went ahead in February was meant to be overcast. However we had beautiful sunny weather. To overcome this we used lots of black material over the car’s windscreen to stop the reflection of the sunny blue sky.

Post production continued on into early March, with delivery of the Video series in both wide screen format and square for social media, like Instagram. Captions were also produced for all videos to ensure maximum reach.
